5.0 Features List Summary:
- New mission type : Get Excalibur
In this new type of mission, the females have to capture King
Arthur's sword and bring it back to their base (ghost shrine) while
the males try to stop them. Players will be able to respawn for as
long the sword is not picked up. Once it's picked up (only females
can pick it up), no one can respawn until the round is over. If time
runs out before the females return the sword, or if all females get
killed, males will win round and score points. The sword is dropped
on ground when a female carrier is killed. A teamate can then pick
it up and try to reach the capture point. Males can slowly regenerate
hit points when they stand on the sword.
Round duration is now adjustable with the "roundtime" variable.
It can also be set in the map itself (see map
editing section). The "endround" command can also be
used to end a round manually on the server. Note that those commands
work in PKA maps too.
- Bots support (based on the Grinbots by Grin)
We now have bots support in THF. Bots can be spawned using the "sv
bot spawn" command. They can be kicked from server by using the
"sv bot kick" command and killed by using the "sv bot
nuke" command. The "botfill #" command can also be
used to populate the server with bots until a certain number (#) of
players is reached. Bots can play all the mission types and they react
to most voice command (like"follow me", "power me up"
and "heal me").
In order to work, bots will need a bot route for every maps. As of
now, bots route are only available for a limited number of maps. More
routes will be available shortly. Instructions on making bots routes'
is available in the map editing section.
- New maps, new sounds, new player models
A bunch of new maps are available in this release, mostly for the
new Get Excalibur missions (GEX). We also have 3 new player models
by Drax (male archer, cleric and enchanter). New sounds by Mithgulwen
and Pebby are also included.
- New Teamplay XP bonus
To encourage teamplay, you will now get 1/3 XP when you power up or
heal you a teamate.
- Web players stats
Thanks to Jax, THF now includes a program called RAGE that can analyse
log files and generate HTML pages with player stats. Those pages can
then be displayed on the Internet. The "logstats" variable
must be set to "1" on the server to hav ethe server save
the log files. The RAGE program is located in the"Rage"
sub-directory and you need to set it up by editing its "config.cfg"
with the right paths.
- New spells
New Manafill power up spell for wizard available at level 1.
When used, it will give mana to teamates. Also, archers will
get the ring of repulsion of level 5 (same as cleric but they
have less mana).
- More play options
There is now a "maxclasses" variable that will limit the
maximum number of players for every class (to prevent the multiple
archer/bs abuse and encourage variety). There is also a new 'levelupbonus"
variable that, when turned on, will give hit points and armor bonuses
when you level up (a la Diablo). There is also a "pka_sword"
command that, when turned on, will have a glowing excalibur rotate
around King Arther on PKA missions.
- Game balance tweaks and fixes
Various game balance tweaks were added like the reduction of
archer range damage with the phoenix arrows, the resistance
to quake for warriors on berserk and players with the boots of speed
as well as a faster regeneration rate for pyromage in lava.
- New maplist system
Map rotation list is now set in a separate "maplist.txt"
file. There should now be no limit to the number of files it
can include.
- New voice commands
The following voice commands are now available
"openg/closeg": open/close gate msg
"guard": Guard the area msg
"getlight": get light/sword msg
"waithere": wait here msg
'roger": acknowledged msg
"inway": your in my way msg
"flirt" : Are you looking at my ass msg
- New skins for male and female chikens
There is now 2 different skins for male and female chikens
- Various Minor changes
- The map voting keys are not bound automatically to F1-F2 anymore.
You will have to bind them manually using the "vote next"
and "vote select" commands.
- New/better client prediction system for arrows
- New syntax for maps. We now use a "-" instead of "_"
in map names (example: "pka_lily" now becomes "pka-lily").
Maps also always start with a "htf", "pka", "ctl"
or "gex" prefix to indicate mission type (it was not the
case for some of our older maps).
- You can now change the name of the male/female team displayed on
the scoreboard using the "mteamick" and "fteamnick"
commands.
- Cleric's Holy Staff effect has been modified
- Client overflow/Lag reduction
- THF settings/bindings are now automatically saved in the "tuser"
sub-directory. This should fix the problem with THF bindings/settings
interfeering with other settings/configs.
